Join Luke Tscharke and Jay Evans on an incredible opportunity to photograph the night sky amongst Australia’s most recognisable landmarks and superlative landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. As one of two tour operators allowed access to the park at night, you will be treated to some unparalleled access to two of Australias most recognisable landmarks. You will be treated to five days and four nights (three full days total) of dedicated astrophotography coaching and tuition, both in the field during capture and back at base in Ayers Rock Resort including post-processing sessions. With ideal timing for dark night skies and the milky way rising in the early evening this workshop will help you take your astrophotography to the next level. With the absence of light pollution, the clear night skies in Australia’s red centre really do have to be seen to be believed.

Accommodation is not included in your workshop costs. You will need to book yourself accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort by visiting https://www.ayersrockresort.com.au/. New in 2020, self booked accommodation allows you to take advantage of deals offered by the resort when making your booking, reducing the overall cost of your workshop. When booking, we request that you only book into the Outback Pioneer Hotel or Lodge, as residing at other resort hotels may delay our astro, sunrise and sunset schedules. If you wish to book other hotels, please contact us prior to booking. Please ensure you book your accommodation prior to booking a place on the workshop. We are unable to process any refund based on you not having secured accommodation prior to booking.
Flights into Uluru are not included in the workshop cost and you will need to book and pay for these yourself. We recommend you book your flights into Ayers Rock (Connellan) Airport (AYQ) to arrive on the afternoon of Thursday 11th June, and depart on the morning/afternoon of Monday 15th June. You are of course welcome to arrive and depart outside of these times but you must ensure you have booked suitable accommodation. In the unlikely event a workshop is cancelled, we will not be liable for costs relating to non refundable flight bookings. If you have any concerns regarding flight bookings, please discuss them with us.
WHAT TO BRING
The workshop will take place in Australia’s outback, where it can be very hot during the day and bitterly cold at night. We recommend you to bring clothing that can be applied in layers so you can be dressed for all conditions.
- Head torch (with new batteries)
- Hiking boots
- Lenses suitable for astrophotography (feel free to contact Luke or Jay for advice)
- Remote timer for camera
- Sturdy Tripod
- Clothing that can be worn in layers, including thermals
- Water Bottle
- Laptop (to get the most out of the post processing sessions)
